Unfurl handcrafted clothing and accessories are inspired and designed in Perth, Western Australia and lovingly handcrafted through Fair Trade in Northern Thailand.
The first range was created in 2004 when Monica Wager and Phil Davison decided that a traveling market stall would be a delicious experience to have.
The family packed up house, bought a Toyota 4WD, a swag and a trailer, complete with solar panels to enable sewing on the way and embarked on a journey of a lifetime. It took 3 weeks in Broome to sell out of all the stock Moni had taken 3 months to sew. Reality sunk in. The family went abroad and found the wondrous Jiny and now Unfurl works in a beneficial collaboration with a team of skilled local people, where every aspect grows – learning together, creating together, eating together and kids playing together. Unfurl’s love for the planet will see more sustainable fibres being incorporated into their designs and has a vision to continually reduce their carbon footprint. Unfurl has made choices to use recycled paper and vegetable inks for all printing needs, to fly carbon neutral, to use every inch of fabric, to reduce car travel, to plant trees, to donate to planting trees. Together, Moni and Phil fly the business with the belief and intention that Unfurl is life-serving to all those involved.
